MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Quail Lakes Baptist Church Missions Commission is to enable God’s people to fulfill God’s plan of making disciples in the entire world.
VISION STATEMENT
To provide the means to make Christ fully known within every cultural setting, to equip and support people and agencies whose goal is to make Him known in a way that is both understandable and culturally responsible and relevant.
The key purposes that enable us to accomplish our mission and vision are:
The main ways we fulfill these purposes can be outlined as follows:
MOTIVATING
Relying upon prayer and following the leading of the Holy Spirit, we strive to increase missions’ awareness within the body of QLBC. In order to keep the Great Commission continually before our congregation we will pray for a missionary in each service, display their name and flag in each service, place their photograph in the church foyer, prudently post their data on our web site, maintain bulletin boards and worship folder inserts, make prayer letters available in the church display rack and host missionaries in Life Together and Sunday School groups, etc.
RECRUITING
Discerning individuals that have been motivated/inspired to participate in missions related activities so as to use their God given gifts and talents and funneling them towards such things as a) prayer, b) giving, c) short term projects, d) long term service, e) sending teams, f) hosting, g) special events, and h) missions commission.
TRAINING
God is raising-up the next generation of missionaries here at QLBC. We endeavor to equip and train them through an approved curriculum using all available means.
In addition QLBC sends its members on short-term missionary experiences, primarily in conjunction with existing ministries that the church already supports. These trips may be as short as a week or as long as two years. We also seek to arrange mentoring types of relationships with mature missionaries with whom we have a long history.
SENDING
Our commission is involved in all aspects of sending our missionaries, including the setting up of small group meetings, assistance in letter construction, support raising, contacting other churches, etc. Furthermore, if the missionary is an involved, active member of QLBC, we are committed to assist that individual/family by presenting them to the congregation and encouraging the congregation to partner with the missionary both in prayer and financially, above and beyond their tithe. We have a send-off service before our missionaries depart for the field, at which time the elders and pastors lay hands on them and pray for them before the congregation.
PARTNERING
Empowered partnerships with evangelical Christians, churches, mission agencies, or major organizations make it possible for us to accomplish what would be far more difficult to accomplish independently. Therefore, we recognize these partnerships may be the most effective way to mobilize God’s message in a culturally responsible and relevant manner. We encourage and support these endeavors.
SUPPORTING
As a commission, we want to assure our QLBC missionary that we are a committed partner in their work for the Lord. We will give them effective regular communication from the missions pastor and strongly encourage the Sending Team to regularly communicate with them through cards and gifts. When they communicate to us a special need on the field, whether it be financial, or other assistance, we are committed to help them raise up support to meet that need according to our prayerful consideration of that need. While in the area, we will help to arrange counseling, meet housing and transportation needs, etc. We will provide venues to present the missionary to the congregation both for sharing/informational purposes and to help them raise additional support as needed.
This also includes sending monthly financial support, committing to pray regularly, and occasional pastoral and member visits. Our goal is for each missionary to receive a visit during each four year term of service
