Once again this month, we will see Thanksgiving time turn into a high level all- church “GO” project mobilization.  This will take the form of a very family friendly way to bless our community and point people to Jesus while meeting their physical need.

Our Outreach Department has connected with the management of many of the apartment complexes around us here in north Stockton, asking them to allow us to connect with the needy families in their complex.  You would be surprised how many of those residents are so financially stretched that they will not be able to provide a Thanksgiving meal.  The “Thanksgiving to Go Boxes” is a program where we ask families at Quail to supply the makings of a Thanksgiving meal for a typical family of four.

We will give you the ingredients list and ask you to take a box, and fill it with the ingredients and a check for $20 made out to QLBC. We will purchase gift cards to put in the boxes so that each participant can go buy the meat and dessert of their choice.  Early in the month of November, we ask that you bring that “Thanksgiving to Go Box” back to the church. On November 17th, the Outreach Commission will put on a “Thanksgiving to Go” reception where the recipient families can come pick up the boxes and meet some Quail folks.  In addition to the food that the Quail members supply, the boxes will contain Gospel material, a QLBC Promotion DVD, and invitation to our upcoming holiday events.

Our target is to supply 400 needy families right in our nearby area with this example of Jesus’ love in action.  I hope that you will be a part of the action!  It will be as simple as taking a box home, shopping for the items on the list, and bringing the full box back to church on November 4th or 11th.

This is a great family project. To take a further step, you may want to help distribute the boxes to the families who come to the “Thanksgiving to Go” reception.  For more information about that, call Pastor Jim Rutherford at the church office 951-7380.

I hope that you will be a part of this outreach.

His and yours,

Pastor Marc Maffucci
