1 Peter 3:15 says,
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

This verse assumes that our hope is visible and we are shining the light of that hope in areas that need help.

I pray that the people of Stockton notice that the things we are doing in the community are things that bless them and help them, and that they develop a curiosity about the hope that we have, and who we are in Jesus.

It means “going,” meeting needs – with no strings attached.  We don’t have any agenda other than love as we serve.  And part of love is being able to explain the way that this service connects to our love for Jesus.

We love our town and our world, because we love Jesus, and Jesus loves our town and our world and the people in it.

In order to further this effort, we have recently formed six “GO Groups.”  A “GO Group” is a team of people who stand ready to engage in “GO Projects,” and who are organized for that purpose.  The “GO Groups” will be deployed by Grant Hawes, our Director of Global Focus and Outreach, as he becomes aware of needs in the community that these teams can meet.  The “GO Group” is not one in which there are regular meetings or ongoing gatherings, but rather, when a project is determined, they meet to organize for the response and then carry out that response.

Our ‘GO Group” leaders are Gonzalo Palofax, Jeff Gieman, Steve Hartz,  Marguerite Hawes, Tim Knoeb and Mike Moser. They are already forming teams for the next few “GO Projects.” If you would like to be on the contact list for any of these groups, please contact Grant Hawes at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., and he will place your name on the appropriate group list.

This will be another great way for Quail to shine the hope and love of Jesus into our community and represent him well.

His and Yours,

Pastor Marc Maffucci
