As Christmas approaches – it reminds us of the blessing of giving gifts to one another. There is great joy in picking out just the right gift and knowing that the person to whom it will be given will need and appreciate it. Therefore how would you feel if you entered your friend's home weeks after Christmas and found the gift that you had given them still unopened?
Wouldn’t it make you feel bad if you heard a friend of yours complaining about an unmet need in their life, and yet you knew that you had given them a gift to take care of that need but they had simply not yet opened it?
That must surely be how the Holy Spirit feels at times, as He overhears the people complaining about unmet needs; needs that He gifted the church to be able to meet. Recently I read 1 Corinthians 12 where Paul talks about the spiritual gifts…
“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”  1 Cor. 12:7
One author suggested that we look at one another through the eyes of faith and see each other with a gift tag around our neck. For us that gift tag would read “To the Body of Quail Lakes Baptist Church with Love. From the Holy Spirit. PS I knew that you would need this.”
Unwrapping that gift of spiritual ability that God has placed inside all who have trusted Jesus as Savior, means acting on the belief that God told the truth. That He really has given spiritual gifts to “each one” – that includes you!
It means realizing that as we discover those gifts as a part of our Divine Design, we will be in fact discovering the plan of God for our lives. For God wants those gifts exercised in service. And, we will be unleashing His blessing to those that we care about so very much.
Thank you for the part that you play here at Quail, in enabling us to all work for “the common good,” as you live out your giftedness in the Lord.

Merry Christmas and remember
You are a gift to us!
