Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered 12-Step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, pain or an addiction of any kind. Celebrate Recovery is a safe place to find community and freedom from the issues that are controlling our lives.
We meet on Tuesday nights for two hours in a two-part meeting, 6:15 to 8:15 p.m., in E-213 (for directions, follow the banners and signs). Child care for ages birth-Kindergarten is provided.
The first hour consists of a large group meeting with men and women together. We start with worship music to focus our minds and hearts on God, then proceed with a lesson or testimony.
For the second hour we break out into groups. Newcomers attend a special one-time group called “Newcomers 101” to learn what Celebrate Recovery is and how to participate. Returning participants break out into men’s and women’s groups for different challenges we face such as chemical dependency; codependency; general hurts, hang-ups, and habits; anger; food addiction; and sexual addictions (groups offered vary from year to year based on needs). The evening concludes with everyone coming back together for a final prayer and light refreshments.
For the 12-Steps to change our lives, we need a way to apply them deeply and personally. Celebrate Recovery offers Step Studies of The Journey Begins. Step Studies involve reading and answering questions about the 12-Steps and 8 Principles of Recovery and sharing our answers with each other in small groups. These groups meet on different days and times during the week. Women’s Journey Begins and Men’s Journey Begins are currently meeting. Groups receive new members until they reach Step 4 in the 12-Step process. At this point, groups close to promote open, confidential sharing of life challenges and experiences.
As we grow in working on the 12-Steps and our relationship with God and others, we are called in Step 12 to “carry this message to others” and “practice these principles in all our lives.” Celebrate Recovery loves to serve. We give back to the community in different forms of service throughout the year. We also train and grow leaders. Every August, we send leaders to the Celebrate Recovery Summit with its training workshops in southern California.
