You Are Not Alone

Dear Quail,

You are not alone!

For many the “aloneness” of these days is getting more than troubling, it is downright painful. If that is you, now is the time to hear and believe that no matter how empty our house feels, you are not alone.

David said it this way…

7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”
(Psalm 139:7-10, NIV)

“Where can I go from your spirit?” That question is rhetorical, the answer is that there is nowhere we can go where God is not present. Not the ICU, not the quarantined home, not the hospital bed. You will never be where God is not! So spend a moment with me and imagine the rest of your day. Maybe you will be doing some necessary shopping, or maybe you will spend some time on a walk, or maybe you are an essential worker and you will be at work, maybe, like most of us you will remain home and go through the routine that has by now become familiar. In all of these places God is there with you.

Here is the point: David rejoiced in that truth. He knew that since God was present and God loved him, God could be trusted with his best in mind. So let that be our mindset today. Lay claim to the nearness of God. You may not “sense it”, but you can know it. Cling to the character of God and search the scriptures for those reminders of how he feels about his children. Here is a good place to start…

17 The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." (Zephaniah 3:17, NIV)

You are not alone, God is singing over you today!
