Today’s lesson – Daniel 3

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were brought to Babylon as prisoners of war. They were chosen because they were strong men that would serve Babylon well. They served God well and He saved them from the fiery furnace. The three men eventually went on to be missionaries to other nations, sent by the king.

Discuss how your car has protected you and served you well. It may have a couple dents or scratches but gets you from point A to point B. It follows your every command, just as we are to follow God’s commands.

Read Daniel 3

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego weren’t impressed by the king and his idol of gold. They knew who the one true God was and they served only Him. When push came to shove the men stood their ground because they followed God. Even if God didn’t save them, they would follow Him to their death. These men were strong in their faith. Has your faith ever been tested? How did you respond? Is there anything that could scare you into denying your faith?

Around the table...

The three men were with Daniel when they were brought to Babylon. They were part of the crew that did not eat from the king’s table, and their minds and strength showed that the Lord provided for them. The king’s table was rich in goodies that were only available to the king at that time — spices, like salt ,and sweets, like date cakes. These men gave that up because they knew it was not of the Lord. The strength of their faith would eventually be tested and they were protected because of it! Have you ever had to deny yourself something because it didn’t line up with your faith?

GO DEEPER: Talk about your faith. Share times when your faith was tested and you were able to win and share times when your faith faltered.
