Challenge Verse: Romans 10:9

Today we talked about Jesus ascending to heaven. In Acts, after the great commission Jesus ascended into heaven. Jesus proved to the disciples and to many that He was truly alive and appeared to them for 40 days! That’s a long time! But during this time the disciples kept asking Jesus if He was going to restore Israel.
Kind of like when we drive around or we go on a long road trip, inevitably someone will ask, “Are we there yet?” Just like our reply nowadays, Jesus basically replied, “We will get there when we get there,” and told them to wait patiently.
Discuss a time when you had to wait patiently to arrive at a place you anticipated with excitement.
Jesus told the disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit to come. He explained to them that John baptized with water but He will baptize them with the Holy Spirit. This changed the disciples later in Acts and gave them an understanding of what Jesus was teaching them during His time on earth. “Baptism by the Spirit” is to be covered with the Spirit. This should result in a change in you.
Wow! Jesus told the disciples to wait for the Spirit, and when it came the disciples were changed. Discuss as a family how a time of waiting has created a change in your spirit.
After Jesus was taken to heaven the disciples were amazed and stunned! They were looking up at where Jesus was taken and two men robed in white came down. They told the disciples to go and reminded them that Jesus would come again the same way He was taken. I feel this would give the men hope, that He wasn’t gone forever.
As you sit around the table, discuss the anticipation for dinner. Assuming you can smell the meal, talk about how it might taste. In the same way, discuss your anticipation for Jesus’ return. How are you preparing yourself for His return? How are you preparing others?
GO DEEPER: Explore the Holy Spirit. Jesus discussed how we will be baptized in the Spirit. Discuss what that means and how it looks in your life.By accepting you will be accessing a service provided by a third-party external to https://www.qlbc.org/
