The weather is getting warmer and we are yearning to get outside, to go swimming in that frigid water or meander about shopping malls. These are the things we do when it gets warmer -- we go out and enjoy the warmth. Get outside, sit in the shade with your family, and talk about the first things you're going to do when this is all over. Speak on the positive things that the future will hold. In the meantime, try a new recipe, learn a new verse together, and keep your spirits lifted and focused on Jesus!
Pastor Marc is in a message series on "UNSTOPPABLE JOY." He is walking through Philippians and charting out the ways that Paul found joy in his struggles as a prisoner and how he encouraged the church in Philippi to share the good news of Jesus and to press on. This is something we can use, especially in today's context: we can take courage in Jesus; we can take courage that HE is with us; and we can take courage in finding new ways to reach our neighbors, friends, and family with the Gospel. It's much easier to invite somebody "virtually" to church than it is to invite them to the physical building. I encourage you to take up the courage that we hear from Paul in today's message and invite somebody. What's nice is that church doesn't have to be on Sundays; it can be watched any day and EVERY day! It's never too late to invite someone new.
Take a moment and discuss some ways that you can en"courage" each other to invite someone new to church. Is there a coworker that has been on your mind? Is there a high school friend that seems like they need some encouragement? A family you saw walking in your neighborhood? Take courage, step out in faith, and invite them to church online. Then, when this is all over, INVITE them to the building so they can experience the LOVE of the church family! Dig Deeper: Make a plan to invite three people this week! Then follow up with them. Did they get a chance to watch? What was their favorite part?
