Introduction and Purpose: Welcome to our 6-week study of the book of Mark! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Art Delgado, and I am currently a seminary student who is pursuing a Master of Divinity at Columbia International University through their online program. I am also privileged to be one of the ministry interns here at Quail Lakes Baptist.I have been married for 21 years to my beautiful wife Rebekah, and we have two children currently attending Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona: Ethney (20) and Gaelan (18). We also have a 2-year old Belgian Malinois living at home named Finn, who really keeps us on our toes! I am by no means a Bible expert, but a learner, just as you are, and I believe that the Holy Spirit works through all of us, as we wrestle with God’s Word in community, to help us grow in our understanding of, and obedience to, the Scriptures. Confident of this, I know we will be blessed through our time together in the Word.
As you know, we are rapidly approaching Easter season, when churches all over the world will celebrate the Passion and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. And it is my hope that a study of Mark’s gospel will prepare us for this sacred time by accomplishing the following four things: First, it will fan our hearts aflame with worship, by giving us a fresh encounter with the person and ministry of our Lord Jesus. Second, it will sharpen our minds, by challenging us to wrestle with the content and meaning of Jesus’ teachings, as well as the author’s (Mark’s) intent in writing this account. Third, it will strengthen our hands, because we will think of some practical ways to apply Jesus’ teachings to our lives. And Fourth, it will move our feet, by challenging us to walk through life together, as radical, cross-bearing disciples who share the good news of Jesus with others through our words and deeds. The thought of it all is really exciting, so let’s get started!View Powerpoint Introduction Download Weeks 1 and 2 Download Weeks 3 and 4
