This Sunday (9/27), in our live, in-person, outdoor “Concert of Prayer and Praise,” we kick-off a 21 day period where QLBC, along with many other churches in S.J. County, make a commitment to prayer and fasting for God to move in our county and nation.
We will be working in cooperation with other county churches and KYCC to mount a unified effort of God’s people.
Our theme comes from 1 Samuel 17:29 (KJV)
….Is there not a cause?
The setting is David, the shepherd boy, confronting the Army of Israel as to why they have not stood up against Goliath. There was a cause before them, a cause that would call them to action.
I, along with many other Pastors in SJ County and with the assistance of KYCC, am sensing there is now a cause before us. There is a need for God’s people to rise up and intercede for our region and, indeed, our nation.
We want to respond to the things that are going on around us, the pandemic we are facing, as well as the restriction we are enduring, but we ought not to use the world’s weapons to fight the Lord’s battles.
On Sunday, I will teach on biblical fasting and we will hold our worship services outside in the courtyard. The format will be what we call “A Concert of Prayer and Praise.” A blended time of song, prayers and a brief devotional. The services will be identical; however, in order to accommodate the needed set up our service times will change.
We will meet at 9:45AM and 11:15AM. We will set up twice as many chairs as we currently do (socially distant), but also these services will be livestreamed at 9:45AM and 11:15AM for those who will watch from home.
Regarding the county-wide program, each participating church has a “focus fasting period” within the 21 days. Quail’s focus fasting period is Monday, Sept. 28th to Friday, Oct. 2nd. Our fasting method is NOTconfined to food. I will speak more about that on Sunday. Fasting tips and other information about this 21-day effort can be found at KYCC.com.
Even if you don’t choose to fast, please use these 21 days for focused prayer using the prayer cards that we will provide.
Like David, we ask “Is there not a cause?” In these exceptional days, I believe there is a cause for an exceptional move of prayer among God’s people. Join us in the courtyard on Sunday for more information.
