Soar #1

The Women’s Commission theme for this coming year is “SOAR.” We were so excited about the implications it had not only to our ministry, but the effect it had on us personally, that we wanted to extend the concept to the Women of Quail. Isaiah 40:31 says,

“but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (NIV)

I found an article by Michael Bradley that listed traits of the eagle and how it pertains to our Christian walk. There were 11 traits and each month a commission member will highlight one. We intend to weave this thread of “SOAR” throughout our events so by the end of our church year, June 2020, we will all have experienced a transformation in our walk with Christ and will be “SOARing” to heights unimaginable.

Let’s start first with the essence of the eagle analogy. We need to know how eagles are able to fly, especially with their large, heavy wings. Eagles will die if they exert too much energy flapping their wings, so they have to learn to fly without much effort, ergo soaring. To soar, eagles must be patient and wait for a strong gust of wind to rise up from the atmosphere, they launch onto it and, with minimal flying and soaring, they are able go where they would like to go. We are the eagle and just like it is necessary for the eagle to learn how to fly, we as Christians must learn how to be led by the power of the Holy Spirit. The wings of the eagle represent our faith and belief in the Lord. The eagle needs to take that leap off the cliff in order to fly and soar, just as we should fully surrender our life to the Lord and follow His plan for our lives. Lastly, the wind the eagles fly on is the presence and power of the Holy Spirit flowing and operating through us so that we can achieve our divine design for the Lord.

Our first event of this year will be Ladies Night on Friday, July 26th, at 6pm in the Attic. Please join us, we look forward to experiencing this journey with you.

In Christ,
