I am so glad we are learning to SOAR together! The 8th quality of an eagle we need to know and want to emulate is that eagles are faithful for life. The definition of faithful is to be loyal, constant and steadfast. In other words, giving or showing firm and constant support or allegiance that never falters to a person.
Honestly, growing up I could see this idea of being faithful for life in my grandparents’ lives, but not in my own home. My parents had me at a very young age. As a result, I have a lot of stepparents and half siblings. Being faithful for life was not a concept I was familiar with. I know firsthand the kind of scars and trust issues that situation can leave on a person or young child.
It wasn’t until I was in high school, when a friend invited me to a party her youth group was having, that I started my own walk with the Lord. It was there I got to hear what being “faithful for life” actually was supposed to be. Deuteronomy 31:6 says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Again in Hebrews 13:5, the Bible repeats, “…God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you’.” Over and over again God’s Word reminds us that we are secure in Him and He will always be there. He is for us and with us always! Praise Him!
What an example we have! Now, 20+ years later, I have my own husband and family. Matt and I will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary this Spring. I praise the Lord each day for examples of faithfulness and how that looks modeled in our own home. Not only can we follow God’s example in being faithful for life to our spouses, and friends, but we know that God wants us to be faithful to Him for life as well.
