What does it mean to Abide? This has been the theme for Women's Ministry this year!
A- Adore his majesty in prayer. —John 15:7
B- Bless Him through service. —John 15:5
I- Incline your heart toward His word. —John 15:10
D- Dwell deep in His love. — John 15:4
E- Exalt Him in Joy. — John 15:11
When you read this title, “Believe in Yourself”, all the self centered thoughts we have been inundated with, living in a free land, starts circulating in our thought process. What can “I” do, what will “I” get out of this, how will this make “me” greater than everyone else. I, I, I, me, me me. But as a person who trusts the Lord, this topic takes on a different meaning. It is a belief that is not in our own strength but our strength in Christ. Philippians 4:13 tells us “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
In the September newsletter, we read that one way to stay resilient is by learning lessons in life through our walk with God.
Another way to learn resilience is to know how to Release Tension. Daily worries about family, work and finances can build up and fester inside. To alleviate tension, some people may take a walk or work out at the gym.
Recently, I fell apart. I was melting in a very cold way and I couldn’t get a grip on my emotions.
Has that ever happened to you?? You’re going about your day and SMACK. Out of nowhere you begin to melt. You need to run. You need to leave your comfortable chair and just get away. You don’t want anyone to see you lose it. But where do you go when you have so much to do?
Continuing with our theme RESILIENT based on the article by Jen Uscher, the second point she makes is that we need to learn lessons.
2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT)
All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
Here we are right in the middle of the dog days of summer. The kids are back in school, which means that Bible study is just around the corner! 2020 is very different than what we are accustomed too by far. Many of us are still following the “Shelter in Place” order due to being in the vulnerable group. But we will not allow this pandemic to keep us from learning God’s Word.
This fall, we will study the book of Job by Lisa Harper. We can relate with Job can’t we? We are dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic! It seems like everything we have known has been taken away from us, our ability to do what we want, when we want, and how we want. Our lives have been turned upside down and it’s just not fair! How are you handling your suffering? Have you succumb to your human nature or are you like your servant Job?
Thursday Morning Bible Study September 24th ~ November 19th, 2020 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. ~ Virtually on Zoom Cost: $16
In this 7-session study, we will discover the redemptive fact of Job’s suffering, to view pain as a way to strengthen our faith, point others to the gospel, and trust in the Lord. Because His providence will never take you to a place where His grace will not sustain you.
For those of you who did not attend this past Ladies Night you missed a real treat. The title was “Life Line” where we learned that God is our life line. Robin Gordon explained that He wants a relationship with us and the only way we have access to this life line is through prayer. Our theme verse reads as such:
Have you ever noticed how many choices we have to make in a day?! Sometimes they can be easy (pickles or no pickles? Definitely no pickles!) And sometimes they are overwhelming! There is just too much to choose from, especially on things that take our time and require an investment of ourselves.
